During our recent trip to Guangzhou, we thoroughly enjoyed the food while staying at the Orange Hotel on Xihua Road. The location was convenient, right on the food street. We indulged in Cantonese favorites like rice noodles, pan-fried dumplings, congee, and beef offal, savoring every bite.

Here’s a view of Fangji Snack Shop, complete with a queue and the mixture pork and beef cheung fun we ordered. The rice sheets are paper-thin and wrap around fresh beef and pork, drizzled with sweet soy sauce and sesame oil. It was so silky that they barely need to be chewed.

Takeaway Yuan Ming Siu Mai - Guangzhou Street Food

Handmade Chaoshan-style thin-skinned dumplings (蔡圆芳) and Siu Mai ((圆明烧卖) are so tempting. We bought them and enjoyed them with the nearby dessert soup.

Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園榴莲糖水) on Xihua Road is a century-old dessert shop in Guangzhou. Their durian sweet soup and mango pomelo sago are absolutely amazing! The shop is popular among both locals and visitors, and there are even two locations on Xihua Road.

The authentic Cantonese-style sizzling clay pot dish is surprisingly the most popular option on Xihua Road, often attracting long queues.

Unfortunately, we didn’t have the chance to taste the clay pot dishes during our visit due to the extremely long wait. Perhaps I’ll try again on my next trip to Guangzhou.
