With its excellent location, beautiful rooms, friendly staff, and unbeatable prices, it truly stands out!

Hoian Central Hotel

Hoian Central Hotel - Colonial architecture building

Hoian Central Hotel is a charming establishment that reflects the traditional architecture of Hoi An’s old town. It offers beautiful and stylish accommodations with a strong local vibe.

The garden-like atmosphere, thoughtful semi-private sitting areas, all contribute to a pleasant and relaxing experience. The ambiance and layout of the hotel are wonderful.

Hoian Central Hotel - Pool

The pool, shaded by trees, was a wonderful spot to relax during the afternoon heat. Although I didn’t use the pool during my stay, it was a lovely amenity to have, especially on hot days.

A great place to unwind and cool off.

The Rooms

Hoian Central Hotel - Triple Room

During our stay, we occupied a Deluxe Triple Room on the third floor. It’s important to note that there is no elevator in the hotel. So if you want to avoid stairs, it’s best to stay on a lower level.

The room was well-appointed with everything we needed, including a kettle with tea and coffee, a refrigerator/mini-bar, a flat-screen television, and an in-room safe.

The room is a decent size, providing ample space to relax after a day of sightseeing. It is very spacious, allowing for plenty of room to move around. The large bed is very comfortable, and the air conditioning is effective.

The walk-in shower was huge, featuring granite and marble flooring. There was plenty of hot water available. All the arrangements are comfortable and well-appointed, ensuring a pleasant stay.

Additionally, complimentary Wi-Fi was provided.

Breakfast – Courtyard Setting

Breakfast was included in our room rate and was served in an inner garden. The courtyard setting for breakfast was incredibly relaxing.

Guests could choose from Western or local Vietnamese breakfast options. All very delicious.

The breakfast offerings included made-to-order eggs, noodles, warm dishes, bread and pastries, local snacks, juices, fruit, yogurt, and tea and coffee.

During our stay at Hoian Central Hotel, the breakfast menu changed every day! The rotating daily noodle soup special made each morning unique. The selection of fruit also varied, allowing us to try different types of local fruit. It was amazing!

Friendly Staff

Hoian Central Hotel Review - Friendly Staff

One of the highlights of my stay was the staff’s friendliness and knowledge. Very attentive and they were always ready to assist with any inquiries or recommendations.

They also pointed out good nearby places to eat. Even though we had already surveyed the dining options in Hoi An, we discovered additional choices that catered to local tastes. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced my experience.

Excellent Location

Hoian Central Hotel Review - Excellent Location

The hotel’s location is perfect, just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle. It is conveniently close to the ancient town and bustling market, making it easy to explore local culture and attractions. Important areas, such as the old town, lantern boat rides, and the Memories Show, are all within reach.

We opted to walk, but Grab taxis and bikes are also readily available. Shops and restaurants are just around the corner, and we enjoyed walking to the Hoi An Market in the morning and then further down to the riverside.

Just to take note that many motorcycles were crossing carelessly in the old town area. This is common concern when staying in the old town and walking to the riverside. So we advise exercising caution while wandering around.

Hoian Central Hotel Review - Free bikes

Free bikes were available for borrowing. This allowed you to explore the ancient town or even ride to An Bang Beach.

Overall: Hoain Central Hotel Review

All in all, we truly enjoyed our stay at Hoian Central Hotel in Hoi An. The kindness of the staff made our trip truly delightful! We booked the Triple Deluxe Room and were thoroughly impressed with our experience. The comfortable bed was a standout feature, and the hotel’s cleanliness, helpful staff, and great location added to the overall positive experience. While you shouldn’t expect international hotel facilities, Hoian Central Hotel offers 5-star service at a 3-star hotel price. I can fully recommend this place.

Banh Mi Phuong: Hoi An Best Street Food

posted in: Vietnam | 0

Last updated on May 16th, 2026

Banh Mi Phuong is a must-visit spot when you’re visiting Hoi An. Renowned chef Anthony Bourdain called it the “best banh mi in the world”.

Banh mi is one of Vietnam’s most popular and must-try street foods. The “banh mi” translates to “bread” in Vietnamese, but it commonly refers to a delicious sandwich. If you are visiting Hoi An, you must try this affordable treat. Banh mi in Hoi An is known for being softer and crispier, compared to other banh mi in Vietnam.

Among the top recommendations from both locals and travelers are two highly-rated spots: Banh Mi Phuong and Madam Khanh. On our recent visit to Hoi An, we chose to try Banh Mi Phuong to see what all the hype was about. I had actually tasted their banh mi during my previous visit and couldn’t resist coming back for more.

Did Banh Mi Phuong live up to its reputation as the best banh mi in Hoi An? Keep reading for the Banh Mi Phuong food review.

Banh Mi Phuong

Banh Mi Phuong Hoian

Located in the old town of Hoi An, Banh Mi Phuong (Vietnamese: Bánh Mì Phượng) has been one of the most popular banh mi shops in the city since it opened in 1989. This shop is renowned for its crispy bread crust and delicious pate, served with a signature house-made sauce.

Banh Mi Phuong even ranks as one of the best banh mi makers in Vietnam. Its popularity soared after the American celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain praised it on his travel show “No Reservations.” He described Banh Mi Phuong as making the best banh mi, calling it “a symphony in a sandwich.” The shop even displays a photo of this feature from Bourdain’s show.

Our Food Trip to Banh Mi Phuong

What To Order at Banh Mi Phuong

We visited Banh Mi Phuong during our food journey in Hoi An. The shop was just a three-minute walk from our hotel – Hoian Central Hotel. As expected, there was a queue of people eager to get their sandwiches. However, the service is generally quick, and the line moves fairly fast.

Most of the time, locals prefer to grab their food and go.

Banh Mi Phuong Menu

Banh Mi Phuong Menu

Banh Mi Phuong offers over 15 varieties of banh mi on their menu, each made with a baguette that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fillings include BBQ pork, beef, chicken, bacon, pate, and several other options to choose from.

The mixed bread with pork and pate (Number #3) is the most popular choice among customers.

In addition to the popular Banh Mi, the shop also serves local specialties from Hoi An, such as Cao Lao and Com Gai, as well as fruit juices, coffee, and other drinks.

Banh Mi Phuong Dining Experience

After looking at the menu, our choice was clear. We decided to order the most popular option, the mixed bread with pork and pate (number #3), as well as the bread with smoked pork belly and pate (number #1).

Since we choose to sit down to enjoy the food, Banh Mi Phuong offers table services with seating on the ground floor. You can also order the food after you get seated. Staff will bring the order to your table.

The shop has even expanded to the second floor to accommodate more customers during peak hours. We chose to sit comfortably and enjoy our meal with drinks.

The Best Banh Mi?

Banh Mi Phuong Hoi An

Our bánh mì was served quite quickly.

The banh mi was exceptionally well-balanced. It was made with pate, slow-roasted pork, pickled vegetables, coriander, and a secret sauce. The bread was toasty and delicious, filled with just the right balance of ingredients. It was crunchy, sweet, savory, and had a hint of spice.

Banh Mi Phuong - best banh mi in Vietnam

The meat has a sweet flavor that is nicely balanced by the pickled vegetables, resulting in an overall delightful taste. We also enjoyed the avocado juice and Vietnamese iced coffee with great pleasure.

But, is this the best banh mi in Vietnam? I can’t say for sure based on personal liking.

However, Banh Mi Phuong is undeniably delicious and offers great value for money. Be prepared for a line, but trust me, it’s worth the wait.

Overall: Banh Mi Phuong Food Review

Overall, Banh Mi Phuong in Hoi An is a must-visit for any food lover. The first bite of their signature sandwich reveals a perfect balance: a crispy baguette, savory meats, fresh herbs, and a secret sauce that ties it all together. It’s no wonder Anthony Bourdain referred to it as “a symphony in a sandwich”. It’s definitely worth checking out, so make sure not to miss it during your visit to Hoi An!
